Spiritual and Religious Life

About

Emory University provides diverse and deep opportunities to engage with spiritual life on campus through worship, meditation, education, service, and multifaith engagement.

The mission of the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life is to:

  • Support religious and philosophical communities,
  • Educate about spirituality and ethics in society and the world,
  • Provide pastoral care and opportunities to engage in service and social justice, and
  • Promote religious pluralism and multifaith engagement.

The Dean of Religious Life works with staff and affiliates representing various religious and philosophical traditions on Emory's Atlanta and Oxford campuses to support a remarkably diverse spiritual life program. Undergraduate and graduate/professional student organizations enrich the opportunities for spiritual leadership and practice on campus.

On the Atlanta campus, the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life has two locations: Cannon Chapel Suite 316, where the Office of the Dean is located, and the Alumni Memorial University Center (AMUC) Suite 125, where our Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, and Muslim Chaplains are located. At Oxford College, the Oxford College Chaplain is located in the Student Center.

Our signature programs include: Beloved Community Worship, Voices of Inner Strength Gospel Choir, the Inter-Religious Council (IRC), Journeys of Reconciliation,  and International Community Friday Lunch.
